I have examined the paper by Fernie (PASP 101, 225-228 (Feb 1989)).
It seems to me this paper describes the treatment only to Fourier transform,
and not explicitly applicable to PDM. The main derivation of the estimate
of the error seems to be given in the literature cited in this paper.
