SN 2002bo
P. Cacella reported a possible supernova in NGC 3190 on his image taken
on March 9.08 (vsnet-campaign-sn
365, 371).
T. Kato reported no minor planet was present at the position (vsnet-campaign-sn
366). W. Li promptly confirmed the object on March 9.4 (vsnet-campaign-sn
367). W. Li showed that the object was pretty red and, hence, heavily
reddened by much extinction (vsnet-campaign-sn
368, 369).
H. Kawakita et al. revealed that it was of type Ia at the very early
phase (vsnet-campaign-sn
373, 374).
The CfA group noted about the narrow Na I D absorption at the velocity
of the host galaxy, which indicated the large reddening. They also quoted
about the Ti absorption features, which suggested that it may be a subluminous
SN Ia (vsnet-campaign-sn
375). The UCB group also observed this SN, but reported a lack of
Ti features. They commented on the strong Si II 585 nm feature, which
is also typical for subluminous SN Ia (vsnet-campaign-sn
377). On an image taken by T. Hynek on March 10, this supernova did not
appear (vsnet-campaign-sn
378). The object recorded 13.8-14.0mag at the maximum (vsnet-campaign-sn
382, 383,
384,
385,
389).
And then, it started fading (vsnet-campaign-sn
393, 394,
395,
398,
402).
