Dear colleagues! I would like to send you observations of a new variable star (BeV51), which I have discovered in a systematic CCD-based search for new variables. In each observing run typically 400 images are taken of several survey fields. The frames are processed automatically. Instruments: CCD-camera:Starlight Xpress SX (unfiltered) Telescope: Celestron-8 (20 cm Schmidt-Cassegrain) New variable star: new BeV51 181719.8 +040034.2 (J2000) 12.2 12.7 (CCD) SR comments: BeV51: GSC 440 1426 Comparison star was for all measurements GSC 440 1684 (12.1 mag), which was checked to be constant. The apparently slow change in brightness and the red colour (USNO A2.0 r:10.9 mag, b:12.9 mag) suggest a SR-variable. object YYMMDD(UT) mag (CCD) code BeV51 000702.9472 12.55 BRH.BAV BeV51 000706.9486 12.40 BRH.BAV BeV51 000717.9250 12.18 BRH.BAV BeV51 000722.9333 12.36 BRH.BAV BeV51 000731.9222 12.48 BRH.BAV BeV51 000801.9174 12.55 BRH.BAV BeV51 000809.9318 12.54 BRH.BAV BeV51 000811.8965 12.50 BRH.BAV BeV51 000814.8986 12.53 BRH.BAV BeV51 000816.8916 12.67 BRH.BAV Regards, Klaus Bernhard Klaus Bernhard Kafkaweg 5 A-4030 LINZ AUSTRIA e-mail: kl.bernhard@aon.at
