The list below revisits a list of M and carbon stars in Cassiopeia
observed by Ichikawa (1981PASJ...33..107I). Ichikawa published accurate
positions in _galactic_ coordinates(!), along with photographic V,I photometry
and spectral types for some 750 stars in a small field. I originally went
over this field to obtain positions and IDs in 1998, when the main resource
was USNO-A1.0. This was posted to the old 'vsnet' list at:
http://vsnet.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/vsnet/Mail/vsnet/msg01399.html
With the better catalogues that have recently become available, I felt it was
worth going over the list again to look for problems. In several cases errors
on my part were obvious, and reliable matches to the Ichikawa stars were found.
The far-red magnitudes in USNO-B1.0 are a close match to the I-band data in
the Ichikawa list, and provided a reliable identification check.
Along with improved/corrected positions, I now show GSC names as
available, complete IRAS point- and serendipitous-source IDs, MSX names where
there is no IRAS detection, and V (instead of I) and V-I photometry. Many
additional names were found in SIMBAD (HD, BD, Dearborn red stars, etc).
Longer comments are collected at the bottom of the table, flagged by an
asterisk next to the star ID.
