[vsnet-chat 5264] Re: theta Apodis

Just to keep things straight, the comp stars Stan Walker mentions
are:

Walker name real name RA (2000) Dec V B-V U-B MK
COMP",14,08.7,-74,51 HD 122862 14 08 27 -74 51.0 6.02 0.57 0.06 G1V
CHECK",14,17.1,-77,40.9 HD 124136 14 17 04 -77 40.9 8.60 1.08 K0/1III

for HD 122862: V and B-V are from Cousins (1977SAAOC...1...51C),
                U-B from Johnson 1966 (1966CoLPL...4...99J)
for HD 124136: V and B-V come from Tycho-1; a brighter (V=6.5) star lies near

For theta Aps, the spectral type can't be too far wrong, since it is an
MK standard star of type M6.5III. Besides Stan Walker's observations, there
are additional ones that really should be included in any analysis of the
periodicity. These include (obviously) the Hipparcos photometry and also
the long series by Wisse (1981A&AS...44..273W), a revealing but fundamental
paper that seems to get ignored.
Here is a list of probably relevant papers cribbed from SIMBAD. Except
the JAAVSO paper, which Sebastian probably has, every one is available from
the ADS article service, so you can get original data. The Wisse paper and
those by Eggen will contain multiple UBV observations (with JD dates); the
Hipparcos data is available on-line also.
