Dear SN watchers, The UCB team reports the classifications of some recent SNe in IAUC 7953. All spectrum except for SN 2002ee are taken on Aug. 9 UT with 3-m reflector at Lick Observatory. SN 2002dr: In [vsnet-obs 40349] (Jun 26): >SN2002dr 20011213.2 <190:C KAI >SN2002dr 20020624.5 170:C KAI >SN2002dr 20020625.5 170:C KAI > ># The host galaxy of SN 2002dr is UGC 12214, a probable elliptical ># (S0?) galaxy interacting with another elliptical one. SN is located ># at about 7" due south of the nucleus. The expected maximum for ># typical SN Ia is mag about 16.6. It turns out to be type Ia SN, about a half year after maximum. SN 2002dx: In [vsnet-campaign-sn 450] (Jul 15): >SN2002dx 20011119.2 <195:C KAI >SN2002dx 20020708.5 188:C KAI >SN2002dx 20020709.5 189:C KAI > ># The host galaxy of SN 2002dx is UGC 12861, a faint spiral (Sab) ># galaxy. The expected maximum for typical SN Ia is mag about 16.7, ># but it seems not to be of this type in the early phase. It is also of type Ia, about 2 months after maximum. SN 2002ea: In [vsnet-obs 40622] (Jul 23): >SN2002ea 20020202.0 <205:C Puc >SN2002ea 20020721.35 177C Puc > ># NGC 820, the host galaxy of SN 2002ea, is a spiral (Sb) galaxy. The ># SN appears on quite near (1"E, 6"S) of the nucleus of NGC 820. ># The expectec maximum for typical SN Ia is mag about 15.7. It is of type IIn. SN 2002eb: In [vsnet-obs 40635] (Jul 25): >SN2002eb 20020715.4 <190:C KAI >SN2002eb 20020722.4 185:C KAI >SN2002eb 20020723.4 182:C KAI > ># CGCG 473-011, the host galaxy of SN 2002eb, is a spiral (Sb) galaxy. ># The expected maximum for typical SN Ia is mag about 17.0. It is of type Ia near maximum. Thus it was caught about 2 weeks before maximum. SN 2002eh: In [vsnet-campaign-sn 459] (Aug 04): >SN2002eh 20020201.2 <190:C KAI >SN2002eh 20020801.5 164:C KAI >SN2002eh 20020802.10 165C Bol >SN2002eh 20020803.4 164:C KAI > ># SN 2002eh appeared in the spiral (Sab) galaxy NGC 917. The expected ># maximum for typical SN Ia is mag about 16.1. It is of SN Ia, about a month after maximum light. SN 2002ee: In [vsnet-obs 40712] (Jul 31): >SN2002ee 20020610.0 <205:C Puc >SN2002ee 20020729.13 184C Puc > ># The host galaxy of SN 2002ee is NGC 5772, a tilted spiral (SA(r)b:) ># galaxy. It is located at the outermost part of the northern disk. ># The expected maximum for typical SN Ia is mag about 15.8. It is of type II SN (spectrum taken on Aug. 10, with the same equipment as above). Sincerely Yours, Hitoshi Yamaoka, Kyushu Univ., Japan yamaoka@rc.kyushu-u.ac.jp
