G'day all,
Although the rain, wind and cloud continues here, a brief respite
earlier this evening allowed another naked-eye estimate:
Nova Vel 1999 May 23.416 UT 2.5v (= Kappa Vel)
Definitely brighter than Mu Vel (2.7v). In 7x50 binoculars
the nova's colour was about the same as Delta Cru; suggesting
that its decline has not yet begun.
Further attempts at observation have been thwarted by weather :(
