[vsnet-chat 6609] On vsnet-obs 45730

On vsnet-obs 45730

There is an apparent instance of confusion between V-band and unfiltered
CCD observations, although Arne Henden claimed in the past that there
is no clear indication of such confusions.

Okay, this AAVSO format indicates that the observation was V-band filtered
CCD observation. As stated below.

> CCD(V)(B)(R)(I) = Charge-coupled device with (V)(B)(R)(I) filter

However, Rodriguez's description of equipment states differently.

> Telescope 0.20m+CCD

This confusion is apparent when compared to vsnet-obs 45728.

> DRAES 20030702.965 14.5CV Diego Rodriguez.
> SERNY 20030702.979 15.5CV Diego Rodriguez
> LYRMV 20030702.993 12.5CV Diego Rodriguez

These observation can read "unfiltered CCD observations calibrated
on V-magnitude sequence" (=CV), which does not contradict the description
of equipment. But with the same equipment, the AAVSO format
(vsnet-obs 45730) indicates a different system. Which system is correct?
Diego, please check your system and please resubmit observations with
correct specification of the system and description of equipment.

   see

   http://vsnet.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/vsnet/etc/format.html

   for system specifications.

This discordance is apparently one of the negative consequences of
AAVSO's method of CCD system specification.

Taichi Kato
