Michael, If you look at the Simbad/Aladdin preview image, you will find that DV Pup is the brightish star _nearest_ the marked coordinates on the AAVSO chart; that mark is just misplaced. Looking at the blue and red survey plates also show that this star is quite red, matching the Simbad description.
