Here's what I did: o Went to the GCVS query page: http://vsnet.sai.msu.su/groups/cluster/gcvs/cgi-bin/search_new.html ...and keyed-in DV Pup in to the top search window. o GCVS returns the two Durchmusterung IDs, among other info. o look at the SIMBAD entry for DV Pup, and see that they list the same CPD and CD names. So far so good. o use the SIMBAD position to seach in VizieR looking at the CPD and CD to see if the position match the catalogue positions (within their rather larger scatter). They do, therefore the SIMBAD position is correct. o if your description of the AAVSO chart is correct, then the wrong star is identified as the variable. DV Pup = CD-26 4672 (preferred name after the GCVS designation) = TYC 6547-2061-1 = IRAS 07356-2617 (etc) \Brian
