I asked Mike Simonsen for help in making up a chart around this one, and when he mentioned it looked like around 10-something (I measured it in the 13's), I took a closer look. Seems there is a lot of discrepancies here. When I pulled up Aladin to look at a DSS1 image of the region, their search identified the Tycho star 6547-2061-1 as DV PUP! The AAVSO V445 Pup chart identifies DV as just SW of this Tycho star, which is where I was looking for my estimate. I did see a 13-ish star near there (but not exactly) so I assumed that was it. In fact the star I measured turns out to be USNOB2.0 0635-0154068 GEEZ!!! There may be an extremely faint object on DSS1 very close to the exact position shown on the AAVSO chart, but the chart scale is not fine enough to allow an absolute identification... Here we go again. So, what object is really DV PUP???!!! Mike Linnolt (LMK)
