I suppose the organization of the variable-star databases is not quite
to the point yet where one could create something analogous to "HOP", the
hierarchical observing protocol" that we've rigged up for asteroid observing.
Something like this would allow variable-star observers to key-in, say,
their latitude and preferred object types and magnitude range. The server
would then produce a list of variables most in need of observation at that
moment. As new observations were vetted and added to the database, the
observing list would change.
