I agree with Kato-san's assessment of the comments on IAUC 7041---Liller's
"broadband-V" is simply too wide. Although it is not possible to get
perfect V magnitudes for novae, any passband that includes the very bright
H-alpha line, which Liller's bandpass evidently does, is bound to result in
too-bright "V" magnitudes. Here is one case where a well-trained eye can do
nearly as well as a photometer/CCD.
