SN 2002ji
NGC 3655, a host galaxy of SN 2002ji is a nearby spiral galaxy. It is a
probable member of a group LGG 237, which also contains NGC 3626 or NGC 3607.
It is at the nearly same distance as the Virgo cluster, so if it is typical
unreddened SN Ia, it can reach mag 12. But the discovery magnitudes (15.1mag)
suggest that it was an old one or a collapse-driven event (vsnet-campaign-sn
511). According to IAUC 8026, the Baade telescope at Las Campanas spectrum
on Dec. 3.3 revealed that it was of SN Ic around 1 month after maximum (vsnet-campaign-sn
514). The Nordic Optical Telescope (NOT) at La Palma spectrum on Dec
5.24 confirmed that it was a SN Ib/c, but it seems to be near maximum (vsnet-campaign-sn
516).
