Dear SN watchers, IAUC 8028 informed the classifications of two recent SNe. SN 2002ic: In [vsnet-obs 42357] (Nov. 11): >SN2002ic 20021030.0 <200C NEM >SN2002ic 20021113.0 185C PAL >SN2002ic 20021120.0 178C PAL > ># A host galaxy of SN 2002ic (1:30:02.55, +21:53:06.9 (J2000.0), ># offset = 4"W) is also a dim (USNO-A2.0 rmag = 18.0) galaxy possibly ># interacting with the SE companion. The Baade telescope spectrum (Nov. 29.11) shows that it is a type Ia SN near the maximum. It is likely a luminous one. The redshift is 0.066. SN 2002ji: In [vsnet-campaign-sn 514]: > According to IAUC 8026, the Baade telescope at Las Campanas spectrum >on Dec. 3.3 revealed that it is of SN Ic around 1 month after maximum. The Nordic Optical Telescope (NOT) at La Palma spectrum on Dec 5.24 confirm that it is a SN Ib/c, but it seems to be near maximum.
