Appearantly, there is some confusion about the optical identification of
UW Pic (= RX J0531-4624). Please, find the following information for
clarification.
The optical counterpart (later designated UW Pic) of the ROSAT All-Sky
Survey X-ray source RX J0531.5-4624 has been spectroscopically identified
as the most northern component of the appearant stellar triple visible
within the 3-sigma error circle of the X-ray position. The cataclysmic
variable is star "A" in Fig. 2 of Reinsch et al., A&A, 291, L27, 1994.
The triple is not resolved on the DSS image. Given a distance estimated
to be (300 +/- 60) pc, the proper motion of UW Pic should be negligible.
