G'day all,

An updated preliminary chart for Nova Sco 1997 is now available from the
Astronomical Society of South Australia's variable star page:

http://vsnet.gist.net.au/assa/vsg.htm in the "latest News" section

This improved chart contains the comparison stars from VSS RASNZ
Variable Star Memorandum 60 (Morel 1997) mapped onto VSNET's image of
the starfield. The chart goes to about 14th magnitude and includes many
stars not in the GSC. One as bright as 9.4V (HD 316569), and some
others very close to the nova.

Identities of some VSM 60 comparison stars are:
"84" GSC 6853.1959 (= HD 162979 = PPM 267505)
"91" 6853.1567 (= HD 162856 = PPM 267486)
"94" - - - - (= HD 316569)
"96" 7378.651 (= HD 316608)
  a 7378.417
  c 6853.1377
  d 6853.1877
  f 7378.830
  h 7378.420
  l 7378.268
  m 7378.1623

Hopefully this will end our sequence conflicts. Good luck with the
weather!

cheers,
Fraser Farrell
