Dear Colleagues,
This is a story of extreme stupidity.
Recently I have sent some var43 (Her) observations to vsnet.
In all the observations I got the result fainter than mag 16.
When I saw the recent vsnet summary of october data I noted
that other observers had seen an outburst while I had not. Odd!!
Yesterday I checked the situation.
I had marked the position of var43 on
a GSC based chart using GUIDE 4.0.
It turned out that in my GUIDE the Jupiter moon Callisto was set
as home planet. Thus the position I had marked on my
chart was a bit wrong. When using the Earth as home planet
(a bit more natural) var43 was found on several of my images
of the area.
Below is listed my correct var43 data.
VAR43 961001.809 <16.0
VAR43 961002.758 <16.0
VAR43 961004.806 12.84
VAR43 961005.771 12.62
VAR43 961006.825 12.61
VAR43 961010.752 13.27
VAR43 961024.756 <16.0
I don't remember when the outburst was first reported.
Thus I don't know if my correct data changes the outburst
profile. But the star was not dipping to fainter the 16 during the
outburst!!
Naturally I didn't get any time series during the outburst. Too bad.
Regards
Lasse Teist Jensen (JLT)
