CAL86: outburst images Dear Colleagues, We have received the following outburst images from Bernard Heathcote and Berto Monard. http://vsnet.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/pub/vsnet/DNe/CAL86/heath1.gif http://vsnet.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/pub/vsnet/DNe/CAL86/mon1.gif We hope these images will help identifying the object. The FITS files are relayed to Yamaoka-san for precise astrometry. Berto Monard reported the following representative magnitudes, indicating that the object is fading. CAL86 20030224.80 14.3CR MLF CAL86 20030224.96 14.6CR MLF CAL86 20030225.80 16.0CR MLF Although the fading rate is consistent with that of a normal outburst of an SU UMa-type dwarf nova, present outburst amplitude (nearly 6 mag) looks exceptional for such a short outburst. The present outburst may thus be a precursor to a superoutburst; please keep watching the progress of the outburst. Regards, Taichi Kato VSNET Collaboration team
