   Upon a request, the discovery article of HadV98 is reproduced as below.

Dramatic fading: New Haseda variable (HadV98)

   Katsumi Haseda (Aichi, Japan) reports the discovery of a new variable
star (HadV98).  The variable had been almost constant for years, and
suddenly faded!  This star may be a new R CrB star or a long-period
eclipsing binary (or something else?).  The lack of IRAS detection may
be against the R CrB-type interpretation, but has been a result of
source confusion.  More observations, spectrscopic classification and
a search for past photographs, are urgently requested.

UCAC1 data for HadV98:

RA 17h 23m 14.55s

Dec -22d 52' 06.3"

proper motions:

RA +6.4 +/- 3.9 ms/y [milliarcsecs per year]

Dec -9.7 +/- 2.8 ms/y

[proper motion from 4 catalogue positions]

UCAC1 midway twixt R and V red sensitive CCD magnitude is 10.48 at UCAC1
obs mid epoch 1999.490


Given the above magnitude and assuming that the Haseda and Kanatsu 'p'
magnitudes are photovisual _suggests_ that the object is not very coloured

Dear All,

I Have posted an image of HadV98 in vsnet-image.
The image was been taken at 2000 06 21.84 UT with a 200 mm lens f/3.5 on a
35 mm film Kodak 400 ISO.  I Have produced fotometric measures on image and
I find m1~10.5 with GSC catalog and Astroart program.
