It appears that I had neglected the hindsight obvious point that this object lies somewhat distant from the Galactic plane, and therefore if a Cepheid is most liable to be of the Population II variety, that is a W Virginis star, from the period the CWA subclass would fit best. A quick scan through the GCVS and elsewhere suggests that the apparent magnitude, colour and proper motion are not inappropriate compared to some known CWA stars. John Greaves
