[vsnet-newvar 1694] GSC 5173-2099 is a long period variable

Analysis of Stardial images (http://vsnet.astro.uiuc.edu/stardial/)
between 1999 and 2002 reveal that GSC 5173-2099 is a variable with an
amplitude of 0.8 mag in red light, and a possible period of 260 days.
According to Stephenson (ApJ 301, 927, 1986) the spectrum of the star
is M8. The USNO and GSC catalogs suggest a B-R value around +3.
