In the case of contemporaneous blue and red plates, the object is distinctly brighter on the red plates. In the case of the near-contemporaneous 1993 red and far red plates, the latter is the brighter. Also an IRAS source. Amplitude of variation, time distribution of variation (including changes on same colour plates relatively close in time) and redness of object point towards a Mira variable.
