[vsnet-id 717] Some southern white dwarf candidates

The list below contains accurate current-epoch positions and IDs for
southern white-dwarf candidates observed by Wegner in two papers. All the
stars appear in SIMBAD but mostly with approximate coordinates and in several
cases erroneous ones. Because most have substantial proper motion, it was
necessary to do quite a lot of sleuthing for finder charts, and also some
work was necessary to get positions at or close to epoch 2000. The work of
Bakos et al. covers many of the stars, but I have replaced their positions if
it seemed positions from other sources (notably UCAC) were of higher precision.
I used the recently-available USNO-B1.0 for many stars, although this catalogue
has numerous quirks and fast-moving stars appear unpredictably with or without
the correct proper motion.
The list shows GSC names as available---often far removed from the stars'
positions at epoch 2000, and rough V magnitudes as an aid in identification
(most of the stars have UBV or uvby photometry). The remarks show aliases in
SIMBAD where there are multiple entries for the same star. All GCVS names are
shown as well, even though these are complete and correct in SIMBAD.
Bakos et al. seem to have misidentified two stars: WG 48 = LHS 1916, and
WG 49 = LHS 3206. The first was readily identifiable by its motion on Schmidt
plate-scans, whereas the Bakos star is stationary. For WG 49, I used Luyten's
chart (1949ApJ...109..528L) to identify the star. In both cases it could be
that available charts were misinterpreted by Bakos et al.
