I have looked up CGCS 2792 and its companion in the monumental
spectral survey of the southern milky way by Loden et al (Astron. Astrophys,
Suppl. 23,283-392 (1976)). Both stars are listed, as follows:
No. Position (1950) mB Spect. type
=====================================
1763 10:32.4 -62 26 12.0 B8-B9
1764 10:32.5 -62 26 15.0: S [Underexp.]
1763 = CPD-62 1643
1764 = CoD-62 466 = CGCS 2792
While the two DM stars have rather similar positions, an examination of the
Loden finder charts (one blue, the other yellow light) shows that only one
star is recorded, in each case. Their blue light chart shows 1763 clearly,
but not 1764. In the yellow light chart the red star (1764) is totally
dominant. The two photos give a good impression of how the compilers of the
CPD saw the field (blue), compared to the CoD (yellow).
Which raises the question: where do these other classifications (F0, G0 V)
come from?

Mati
