[vsnet-id 639] Red stars in southern Cygnus

Listed below are accurate coordinates and identifications for about 100
red stars classified by Westerlund in an photo-infrared survey of the southern
Cygnus starcloud. These are only a small portion of the ~1800 stars listed
in the source paper, most of which are identified only on difficult line-work
charts. The stars from Table 4 cover a 2x1-deg region aligned with the
galactic plane. The stars in Table 9 are variables found over a wider area in
the same region.
The tables show coordinates along with their source, and basic GSC and
IRAS identifiers as relevant. I give MSX names for non-IRAS stars in the
notes at the bottom of the table. 'mb' shows photo-blue magnitudes from either
USNO-A2.0 or GSC-2.2, intended mainly as rough figures. 'mi' are infrared
(8500A, roughly Cousins I) magnitudes given by Westerlund, and finally his
spectral types. Only one of the stars from Table 4 is a known variable, but
essentially all must be.
The variables from Westerlund's Table 9c are given in the same format
except that no infrared magnitudes are provided. NSV names were assigned
to all the stars based on this study, and several can now be linked with
designated GCVS variables (two had already been linked in the GCVS). The
spectral type column here shows the _range_ of types observed by Westerlund
on the plates he examined.
Though I intend to complete work on this list eventually, it will not
be soon, so this is all from this particular paper for the moment.

\Brian
