The RASS-FSC TDF provided in vsnet-id 234 will work much quicker if the
commands
toler 2
and
sort 2
are placed on their own lines immediately after the command
epoch 2000
[if sort 2 doesn't work, try sort -2]!
These sort the file on declination ascending/descending, with a
tolerance of 2 degrees. Try toler 3 to 5 if 2 still doesn't work. For
some reason the RASS-FSC datafile is _nearly_, but not quite, sorted on
Dec from the north pole down. [If you think that's strange, UCAC1 is
sorted in "south polar distance"! Though at least it is _fully_
sorted!].
[I've re-sorted my personal datafile copy on RA anyway, so I can't test
this]!
Thanks to Bill Gray of Project Pluto for the above tips.
