SM Report #13
11:00 AM December 15 349:16:00
Summary of recent activities:
The alignment of the new gyros relative to the FHSTs has
been accomplished. A total of 6 large angle slews were
used in the calibration. The new alignment matrices will
be uplinked this afternoon. A second set of 6 large angle
slews this evening will confirm the calibration.
There have been only a few SI activities in the last two
days. A GHRS aliveness test successfully checked out
GHRS side 2. In addition, the GHRS aperture and vent doors,
which had been closed for the servicing mission, were
opened.
Problems/Issues/Changes under consideration:
None
Near-term plans:
The second SMS, 93350, has been sent to PASS and starts
executing this evening. This SMS covers 4 days and will
continue basic spacecraft and SI checkout. We will verify
that guide star acquisitions work and run internal tests on
the GHRS, FOS, and FOC. Initial WFPC-II operations will
take place during this period. Tests will be run to check
out the AFM and internal calibration systems. The CCDs will
be cooled to about -20 degrees C and internal flats will be
taken. The first UV contamination monitor observations and
the first data on POM alignments will also be taken.
