Dear Colleagues
   We are pleased to announce that the above international symposium,
organized by the Institute of Space and Astronautical, will be held at
the new campus of Tokyo Metropolitan University in Hachioji, Tokyo.
   The purpose of the symposium is to bring together the new observational
results obtained in the successful first year of ASCA and the achievements
of other space missions, and to deepen our understanding of the X-ray/gamma-
ray universe and its evolution. The following topics will be addressed by
invited speakers. We also call for contributed papers, all of which will be
presented as posters.

   Topics:The capability of ASCA and performance of on-board instruments,
Review of PV phase results (star, binaries, SNRs, galaxies, AGNs, galaxy
clusters, and CXB), New results from ASCA, Recent results from ROSAT,
GRANAT and CGRO observatories.

   The provisional registration fee is 15,000 Yen, and the proceedings will
be published.
   We would like to note you that the symposium has been planned to
commemorate the achievements and contributions of Professor Yasuo Tanaka
who is going to retire in March, 1994, from Vice Director of ISAS.

   Please, return the preliminary application form before October 30, 1993.
