After nearly a month of hazy conditions, the skys over Virginia finally
cleared. Considering the recent magnitude estimates that had been reported for
SN1993J, I anticipated that the supernova would be beyond the light gathering
capability of my 8" (20.3 cm) telescope. I was therefore pleasantly surprised
when I pointed the telescope at M-81 and the supernova was still clearly
evident. I don't know how much longer I'll be able to monitor SN1993J (The
haze has already made a return), but I'll do my best.
Here are my observations to date on SN1993J. The date marked with an
asterisk (*) is the previously unreported estimate.

The 8"/f3.5 in combination with the 10.5 millimeter TeleVue Plossl & the
paracorr coma corrector yields 79 power. Observations made from Yorktown,
Battlefield, Virginia, USA on 4/2, 4/4, 4/8, 4/13, 4/14, 4/18, 4/19, 4/28,
4/29, 4/30, 5/8, 5/11, 5/28, 5/31, 6/2, 6/7, 6/17, 6/23, 6/24, 6/25 & 7/10.
The 12.5"f/6 in combination with the 24 millimeter Konig yields 76 power,
in combination with the 13 millimeter TeleVue Plossl yields 141 power.
Observation made from Ellicott City, Maryland, USA on 4/24 & 5/23.
