[vsnet-const 20] V449 Sco

Continuing with the V449 discussion, searching through Burnham's Celestial
Handbook (R.Burnham Jr., 1978) I found this:

V449 Sco - Range: 7.0 - 7.6 - Per: 38.8 d: - Type: Ecl. bin?

The handbook doesn't mention the passband used for the range. B and V are
taken undistinctly leading to mistakes. Obviously this is the "p" range
mentioned in previous GCVS editions.
But the interesting things are the classification and the period.
Almost 39 days, more or less three times the period mentioned in the AAAA
article.

My endless 7.0's could only be explained by an EA type, but then all those
observations ranging between 6.3 and 7.7 would make no sense. On the
contrary, an EB classification hardly fits with my observations of the star
always at 7.0.

So, in spite of Burnham's Celestial Handbook, old GCVS's and 1970-80's
observations, I keep thinking the star is constant. A 39-day period makes
observations even more difficult. I'll keep looking.

Best regards,
Sebasti睹 Otero.
