ADASS Conference
Preliminary Announcement
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the 13th annual conference on Astronomical Data
Analysis Software and Systems (ADASS), to be held in Strasbourg, France at
the Palais de la Musique et des Congres from October 12-15, 2003. The
programme is expected to last until about 4pm on Wednesday 15th.
The conference is hosted by the Observatoire Astronomique de Strasbourg,
and the Centre de donnees astronomiques de Strasbourg (CDS).
The ADASS Conference Series provides a forum for scientists and computer
specialists concerned with algorithms, software, and operating systems that
focus on the acquisition, reduction, analysis, storage and dissemination of
astronomical data. The program includes invited talks, contributed papers,
display sessions, tutorials, and computer demonstrations, as well as
special interest ("Birds of a Feather" or BOF) meetings. These activities
aim to encourage communication between software specialists, scientists,
and users, and also to stimulate further development of astronomical
software and systems.
We encourage you to attend and participate in this exciting conference.
The ADASS2003 web site (http://www.adass.org/adass2003) will be regularly
updated during the following months. It will include all needed information
about the conference program, registration, financial assistance, and
accommodations. It will be possible to register for the conference through
the web site starting June 2nd.
A Virtual Observatory software tutorial workshop will be held in Strasbourg
on Sunday the 12th, before the ADASS conference itself. The tutorial will
feature presentations from VO developers describing how to register VO
services, utilize VO resource registries, utilize VOTables, implement VO
compliant applications, etc. People interested in this workshop will find
further details on the ADASS 2003 web site in the coming weeks.
