[vsnet-chat 5891] Re: The Negative Effects of the VSNET Email Policies

That makes two of us.
I've been trying to unsubscribe to many lists for weeks.

Subject: [vsnet-chat 5889] The Negative Effects of the VSNET Email Policies

I'm another person frustrated by the VSNET email lists. After multiple
attempts to unsubscribe I'm resorting to bringing it up on this list.

First, and most importantly, please let people unsubscribe from VSNET
lists automatically. Whomever is the admin of these lists apparently
does not check their email! The whole purpose of list software such as
majordomo is to take the human-intervention out of routine requests
such as unsubscribe.

Second, I never signed up for VSNET lists in the first place. One day I
found myself subscribed to many, many VSNET lists. In one way, I am
honored. My name was probably noticed on the AAVSO list or something.
Still, it is very bad form to subscribe people to lists without their
permission.

VSNET is really, really cool and does great work. Do not jeopardize
this reputation by forcing multitudes of emails down our throats. Do
not subscribe people without their permission and allow people to
unsubscribe automatically.

Thanks for listening.
