I think you are talking about a different module. There is one
that interfaces to the SLA library. This is not that one. This
one is pure perl and was just created this year by Robert.
Patrick Wallace, the guy that authored the SLA library, was very
supportive of this version, because I think he gets a lot of
inquiries for the other module but most people can't handle
getting the SLA library (which is not cheap).
