Dear colleagues,
I know there are two revision catalogs of GCVS positions.
Gareth V. Williams's Revision Catalog of Variable Stars
http://ftp.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/pub/vsnet/others/GCVS_REV/williams
Taichi Kato's Revision Catalog of Variable Stars
http://ftp.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/pub/vsnet/others/GCVS_REV/pat.srt
http://ftp.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/pub/vsnet/others/GCVS_REV/pat2.srt
I searched variable stars whose positions are very different from
those in GCVS2000:
http://vsnet.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/vsnet/gcvs/gcvs2000.all
and found that positions of many stars have been revised, and to be
surprised, some of them have very large difference.
Here I introduced the stars whose position errors in GCVS2000 are
erroneous very much, 0.1 deg or larger.
I believe some of them in these revision catalogs are wrong data.
For example, there are two records of AURLO in pat2.srt with very
different positions.
> AURLO P 2000 055723.900 +482241.62 USNO
> AURLO P 2000 232706.69 +453321.7 GSC_mean
The magnitude data of these stars may be confused in some database...
