Greetings, All, These measures of VW Hydri illustrate an interesting feature of some dwarf novae such as VW Hydri - a distinct pause on the rise. We noticed this with pep measures from Auckland in the 1970s and it's clearly borne out by statistics of the visual measures. But it's good to see it so clearly defined by Rod's measures. For what it's worth the speed through this flat region seems directly related to the amplitude of the outburst. The UBV measures find that the colours are quite red at this stage - B-V about 0.5 as compared with the normal negative values.
