It should be noted that the new nova V4739 Sgr falls within Macho
Bulge-1 field 150. The Macho group has just released
their entire database (see astro-ph/0108444); if someone
can figure out how to get the field, tile, sequence triplet
for the progenitor of this star, you might be able to
retrieve a nice historical lightcurve. (if you do figure out
how to obtain the triplet, pass along the steps you took; I've got
other stars I want to search for!)
This database should be a treasure-trove of information,
especially in the Galactic bulge for us northern observers.
It includes 5-8yr light curves for some 73 million stars
in two passbands.
