[vsnet-chat 4681] QW Sge Anomaly

Hi All,

On July 18.3 UT my V-band images of the symbiotic star QW Sge gave V= 12.49
for the combined light of QW and the very close companion situated just to
its north (see IBVS 4721 for June 8, 1999). The variable itself possibly is
as faint as Vmag 13. The components are about equal brightness in V and the
combined V-R color was a rather modest +0.65 (not particularly red). Why
then are most observer's visual estimates (surely of the combined light)
made around this time running upwards of 0.5 to 1.0 mag brighter ?

Arne published (paper 1) excellent field photometry for this one some time
ago. Certainty it would be the secquence of choice for all of us.

By the way Arne, what were your magnitudes on QW and companion when you did
your field photometry ?

Thanks, in advance, to all.
