True amplitude of WZ Sge?
Looking at the current outburst, I am wondering about the reality of
the 7.0 mag maximum documented in the literature. This was the point
which I had a discussion with Dr. Nogami, who made a compilation of
dwarf nova parameters. The maxima of the past two outbursts of WZ Sge have
been around 8.0 or even fainter (averaging "early superhumps"). Could
the 7.0 magnitude have been a result of different sensitivity of photographic
plates and different comparison stars?
