Re the Nova Like star in the LMC
This star appears on chart 914 of the VSS RASNZ under the designation - Dor
as mentioned by Andrew and still appears in the VSS monthly circulars by
that no-name.
I have been checking this star on a regular basis since late 1998 and
reported some of these observations to the vsnet and AASVO under the
designation V2724 LMC (LMCV2724). To my eye it is usually around magnitude
14.2 to 14.4. The data base of the VSS RASNZ has observations of this star
extending back many more years (to about 1987?) and showing a similar
brightness range.
As Andrew notes, this star is situated in a nice area of the LMC. Yes, its
tough star hopping through another galaxy using clusters and nebulae but
someone has to do it.....

Re: Nova Like star in the LMC
According to GCVS Vol. 5, the star seems to be designated as
052753.5 -660504 (2000.0) LMCV2724 NL: 11.5 (14. 34364(1952) - - - HV12049
or in other conventional naming:
052751.4 -660424 (2000.0) 0527-66 NL? 11.5-13?B
I don't know whether these two entries are identical.
