[vsnet-chat 3436] Re: re new maillists

I think the big complaint is that "everyone" is automatically signed
up for most of the lists, so we end up with large numbers of messages we
don't want. I, too, am still deleting the 30 or more messages received
so far from 'vsnet-rcb', even though I sent an unsubscribe notice within
minutes of it being announced three weeks ago. Although I can understand
a few people being specialized enough to want to know about only one flavor
of variable, just about everything that's of short-term interest appears
(or should) on 'vsnet-alert'. I have even unsubscribed from 'vsnet-sequence',
even though I could well want to contribute, but I fail to see that we need
this list separate from the 'chart' list. It is getting to the point now
that a list may as well be set up for every subclass of variable in the GCVS---
you could have vsnet-ea for Algol variables, but that shouldn't include any
messages more appropriate for vsnet-eb, which strictly concerns beta Lyrae
eclipsers....(please, Kato-san, don't get any ideas, but accept this as
some gentle sarcasm!). Like Arne, vsnet-alert and -chat are plenty for me
to keep up with what's going on; forget the rest of it.
