[vsnet-chat 3155] re NSV 870

This is a good one for the CDS Aladin's survey.

Plotting NSV 870's position in Guide, along with some USNO A2.0 stars,
revealed an USNO star near to its position.

Using Aladin with data *loaded* for NSV 870 entered as "co-ordinates",
with blue survey full res plates from the Aladin tab, USNO A2.0 data via
the VizieR tab, and SIMBAD data from the SIMBAD tab, then zooming in on
the area, we find that NSV 870 coincides almost exactly with the V
around 18.5 USNO star. Obviously the NSV position for this star has
been updated at some point, though if this is only via being identified
with the USNO A2.0 star due to it being the nearest object, we have a
"chicken and egg" position!

The SIMBAD data revealed a PMN object around 10 arcsecs north
[Parkes-MIT-NRAO radio object], and some nearby PHL objects [Palomar
Haro Luytens blue object survey] within a few of arcmins, but nothing
else.

Use of QSO/BLLAC/AGN cats and various radio source cats in Guide
revealed no candidates for this position.

The RASS-FSC source position lies no closer to the USNO A2.0 star than
the PMN position, and as there is a possibility that the association of
NSV 870 with the USNO A2.0 star may only be associated on similarity of
position and magnitudes, it's still not possible to entirely discount
non-CV possibilities.
