[vsnet-chat 3134] OV Tau

OV Tau

Another case of noteworthy CV candidate - ROSAT identification.

  OV Tau:

USNO1125.01275716 034606.260 +294114.69 (2000.0) 14.3 15.9
034606.2 +294114 (2000.0) 15.47 0.78 Henden
034606.2 +294114 (2000.0) TAUOV * UG 15.5 16.5 P - 7.5 - pec(cont+e) R0/DOW

  ROSAT:

034605.8 +294117 (2000.0) 1RXS-F_J034605.9+294118 0.035 1.00 0.43

The identification seems to be secure. OV Tau was originally regarded
as a dwarf nova, but was dropped from the CV list based on spectroscopy
(detached binary). The present ROSAT identification probably cast a
new light on this problem. The ROSAT spectrum sounds too hard for
a non-accreting white dwarf. Is X-ray from the companion?
