I regularally read the vsnet digest and with the recent talk about
Globular clusters I thought this post might be interesting.

Perhaps it is worth mentioning that the work by Clement on the 4th
Catalogue of Variables in Globular Clusters is under current revision and
should be done soon. The latest updates are available in electronic
format at
http://vsnet.astro.utoronto.ca/~cclement/cat/clusters.html
or Dr. Clement can be reached at cclement@astro.utoronto.ca
Also worth noting is the recent advancement in photometric techniques for
detecting variability in globulars. The method is image subtraction
recently advanced by C. Alard to subtract two different images to look for
residues from brightness changes.
I have recently tried this method on M13 with a 16" telescope and have had
great success. I'm current writing it up for publication.
