Dear VSNET members,
When GRB 991216, one of the greatest GRBs of BATSE, bursted, Japan was
at night and just after Geminids meteor shower's peak.
Takema Hashimoto was observing meteors around the area of the GRB. He
recorded a bright meteor appearing around that time, however, he did
not find any bursting object at that time. He is one of the
experienced meteor observers. Perhaps, he could have found it if the
GRB had reached to 3 mag or 4 mag or brighter.
Hiroyuki Shioi and Yoshihiko Shigeno were operating TV observations.
But unfortunately, the GRB was slightly out of their field of view.
Regards,
