[vsnet-chat 2485] Re: L&deV stars near galaxies-1

Brian Skiff's listings of foreground stars near galaxies got me wondering, as
to what the criteria are (or were) for inclusion. Obviously no attempt has been
made for a complete census of such stars. There could be some rather brightish
stars which have been missed. One example I found is for NGC 300. Brian
lists one
star at 00:54:59.0 -37:40:36, V=11.52 which I find also goes by the name
CoD-38 304.
There is another star, not listed, which is superimposed on a spiral arm SW
of the
core - PPM 276498 = CoD-38 301, V=9.62 according to H/T.

NGC 45: Better photometry was published by Alcaino and Liller for GSC
6413-1094 =
CoD-23 55. They give V=9.93, B-V=1.16, V-R=0.59, V-I=1.12 (n=5).

I still check the venerable CoD and CPD catalogues for superimposed stars
which may
not be easily spotted on deeply exposed images of recent times.

This paper gives excellent deep p.e. sequences and field photographs for
each system.
