Dear all
Arne Henden wrote:

the following results:
GSC mag V
3062-00050 14.09 14.08
3062-00281 12.80 12.83
3062-00347 13.59 13.61
3062-00173 12.30 12.31
3062-02129 13.53 13.49
3062-00607 12.50 12.51
So, remarkably, for this specific field, GSC1.2 magnitudes
closely follow V-band magnitudes. This is highly
unusual!<<
Indeed it is! I had also noticed this remarkable concurrence of the GSC
mags with Arne's, thanks to Guy Hurst who obtained the Henden magnitudes
and has created a sequence and chart for TA.
As Brian Skiff quite rightly pointed out however, the AAVSO charts dated
06/97, which are currently available on the AAVSO Web page, are *way, way*
out of line -- so bad in fact that no visual observer could possibly
believe them correct. The following mags are given for these stars:
GSC mag V AAVSO
3062-00050 14.09 14.08 14.9
3062-00281 12.80 12.83 14.1 (!!)
3062-00173 12.30 12.31 13.1
3062-00607 12.50 12.51 13.8
Something has obviously gone very wrong here -- if corrected charts cannot
be uploaded to the Web page quickly, to save confusion may I suggest that
at least the current charts should be removed.
Best regards
Hazel McGee
