Hazel McGee correctly pointed out to me that my
revised magnitude for GSC 3602-00173 almost exactly
matches the magnitude for this star as reported
in the GSC catalog, and therefore her estimate
for the outburst did not have to be revised.
I've checked additional stars in the field, with
the following results:
GSC mag V
3062-00050 14.09 14.08
3062-00281 12.80 12.83
3062-00347 13.59 13.61
3062-00173 12.30 12.31
3062-02129 13.53 13.49
3062-00607 12.50 12.51
So, remarkably, for this specific field, GSC1.2 magnitudes
closely follow V-band magnitudes. This is highly
unusual!
