  I even suspect there are existing charts lacking UY Dra as a companion -- ?

  I suspect (in other cases) some observers who usually use binocular
(or wide-field) variable star charts may tend to continue using the same
chart when the variable is fading away.  Proper instructions for the usage
of an adequate chart and identification of the variable are apparently needed.
