This object is quite strange. The spectrum suggests a dwarf nova, while
the extinction and the outburst amplitude suggests a more distant nova
(as we had discussions on vsnet-chat already). Any improvements since?
This may represent a new class of cataclysmic variables.
Looking back to the 1980's we can find several drastic differences in
novae discovery and confirmation procedures: many of novae were left
without spectroscopy. Nova Sgr 1986 only given NSV 24159, with an "NL"
classification.
